Kitchen: The “Where Did That Smell Come From?” Zone 

  • Daily, Seriously:  
    • Wipe countertops and cutting boards.  
    • Clean up crumbs like a responsible cereal-eater. 
  • Sink Stuff:  
    • Keep drains funk-free—a little baking soda & vinegar goes a long way. 
  • Monthly Missions:  
    • Purge ancient leftovers & wipe down fridge shelves.  
    • Quick wipe of cabinet doors—grease is clingy. 
  • While You’re At It:  
    • Nuke appliance splatters ASAP, or they’ll get fossilized. Your microwave didn’t ask for a cheese crust. 

 

Bathroom: Small Room, Big Gross-Out Energy 

  • Every Freakin’ Day:  
    • Hit sinks & toilets with a quick swipe. Seriously, don’t trust that “it looks fine.” 
  • Weekly Deep Dive:  
    • Go to war on mold: scrub tiles and grout.  
    • Mirrors/fixtures = toothpaste no-man’s land; wipe them too. 
  • Pro Tip:  
    • Showerheads looking crusty? Vinegar is your friend. 
  • Keep It Chill:  
    • If you deep clean weekly, you’ll never be too embarrassed to let friends use your bathroom. 

 

Living Room: Home of Snacks, Pet Hair & Regret 

  • Weekly Routine-ish:  
    • Vacuum couches & cushions (finding coins = bonus). 
    • Wipe down dusty shelves, electronics, and all those random knick-knacks you said you’d dust “next time.” 
  • Floors:  
    • Vacuum/mop, especially corners and under furniture. Nobody’s judging, but you know what’s lurking there. 
  • Pro parent/pet move:  
    • Quick daily sweep stops the mess from staging a coup. 

 

Bedroom: Where You Pretend Everything’s Fine 

  • Weekly Sheet Beatdown:  
    • Wash your bedding—you know you should. 
  • Other Stuff:  
    • Dust dressers and wardrobes unless you prefer allergy attacks.  
    • Vacuum under the bed. Who knows, maybe you’ll find that missing sock. 
  • Keep It Chill & Simple:  
    • Air out mattresses and pillows.  
    • Nightstands: less clutter, less cleaning, more room for existential dread. 

 

Quick Hack: Don’t Burn Out! 

  • Make a short, room-by-room checklist.  
  • Tackle one or two things each day, so you don’t end up rage-cleaning every Saturday.  
  • Trust me, future you will do a happy little dance.
